Last August, legendary Australian motorcycle stunt rider Robbie Maddison spent the day at Thunder Studios filming for a Kia campaign with Blake Griffin.
Maddo is probably best known to American audiences for breaking the world record for distance jumping live on ESPN on the 40th anniversary of Evel Knieval’s jump over the famous Caesars Palace fountains.
More recently, Robbie, playing James Bond’s stunt double in 2012’s ‘Skyfall’, memorably navigated the roof of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar during the wild opening motorized chase scene. He went on to win a SAG award for best stunt ensemble for ‘Skyfall’.
Robbie’s latest adventure was conquering a wave near Teahupo’o, Tahiti on a modified dirt bike. That’s right, Maddo literally rode his bike on one of the world’s heaviest waves.
Check out ‘Pipe Dream’ for yourself here.
Robbie and I have recently spent some time discussing the future of celebrity, digital media, brand development, and of course all things Aussie!
Looking forward to catching up with my mate next time he’s in LA — we’ll have to have another spin in my Ludicrous mode Tesla P90D with Robbie at the wheel this time.
What a legend!
